Lake Erie Lanes and Lucy’s Bar and Grill are rolling into a new chapter. As of April 6, 2025, the beloved bowling alley and restaurant are under new partnership and ownership. Sandy and Brian Piwinski have joined forces with longtime contributor Steve Albenze to lead day-to-day operations. Together, they’re looking forward to keeping the good times going—while also putting a fresh spin on what Lake Erie Lanes and Lucy’s can offer the community.
A community celebration is planned for Sunday, May 4 from 5–9 p.m., with details to be announced soon on both business Facebook pages. Expect a night of fun, specials, and connection as the team thanks outgoing owner Shawn Perry for his five years of dedication and welcomes the next generation of leadership.
Sandy Piwinski is no stranger to the lanes. A Vermilion Local Schools alum who moved back in 2002 with her husband, Brian, Sandy has deep ties to the community. She grew up bowling at Lake Erie Lanes with her grandparents and is now raising her own family here—their youngest is set to graduate from Vermilion High this year and her eldest is a Vermilion High. Sandy already played a leadership role at the alley and plans to retain the current staff as they work together to shape the future.
One thing already generating buzz: Micro Wrestling is coming to Lake Erie Lanes this summer. The team is also looking to streamline Lucy’s menu to improve service and bring back favorites. The lottery machine is back, and the team has been listening closely to both staff and customer input for what to try next.
Though the ownership has changed, the mission hasn’t: everyone is welcome. “We’re happy to be the new owners,” Sandy and Brian shared. “We’re especially looking forward to mending and strengthening our relationships with the schools and community.”
