Officers remained visible through routine patrols, traffic stops, and business checks across the city, while also addressing serious concerns involving safety, homelessness, and public disturbances. The following is a breakdown of notable incidents reported by the VPD during this period.
🗓️ Friday, May 9, 2025
- 5:23 PM – Business check at Vermilion Fire Station 1.
- 5:41 PM – Juvenile complaint at Exchange Park: four juveniles were jumping off the dock into the water.
- 5:50–6:01 PM – Multiple business checks along Liberty Ave and Main Street Beach.
- 5:57 PM – Noise complaint on Timberview Dr; no loud music found.
- 7:00 PM – Alarm on Liberty Ave; false alarm, homeowner was eating dinner.
- 7:05 PM – Squad run: 27-year-old male experiencing numb hands and vomiting.
- 8:02–9:01 PM – Radar calibrations, extra patrols, and business checks at various locations including Brownhelm Country Market, Tiki Beach, and South Shore Plaza.
- 9:15 PM – Traffic stop at Liberty Ave/Helen Dr; marked lanes violation.
- 9:41 PM – Traffic stop at McDonald’s for expired plates.
- 10:05 PM – Traffic stop at Liberty/Ferndale; expired plates.
- 10:21–11:22 PM – Foot patrols and business checks continue.
- 11:39 PM – Traffic stop on Berkley Rd for headlight violation.

- 12:20 AM – Prisoner detail begins at VPD.
- 12:38–3:33 AM – Business checks and foot patrols throughout Liberty Ave, Main Street Beach, and various schools.
- 6:40 AM – Homeless woman reported sleeping at Koko Mart; trespass warning issued.
- 6:56 AM – Red Honda reported running a red light; unable to locate.
- 9:30–11:30 AM – Stationary patrols, traffic stops, and fraud/harassment reports taken at Salvatore’s and Post Office.
- 10:06 AM – Juveniles seen climbing construction equipment; warned.
- 11:12 AM – Barking dog complaint on High Bridge Rd; homeowner’s father stated dogs were reacting to mowing.
- 11:50 AM – Same homeless woman returned, now at closed Sandbar property; formally trespassed from Vintage Crossing.
- 12:23–12:38 PM – Traffic stops and parking ticket issued for curb violation.
- 1:12–4:44 PM – Radar checks, patrols, and business inspections continue.
- 5:08 PM – Chunks of concrete reported in roadway at Cooper Foster/Claus; debris cleared.
- 5:18 PM – Assist agency: neighbor reported smoke alarm with no visible fire; fire crews found several alarms going off but no danger.
- 5:42 PM – Sick/injured opossum reported on Idleview Dr.
- 5:52 PM – Noise complaint on Guilford Rd; volume lowered after officer advisement.
- 7:29 PM – Welfare check on Guilford Rd after caller said female resident was “scared” of man in the home; all parties checked OK.
- 7:45 PM – Car vs. truck crash at Giant Eagle; no injuries.
- 8:27 PM – Suspicious male reported following child on a bike; turned out to be her father.
- 9:50 PM – Medical call at Driftwood Inn; male passed out, transported by squad.

- 12:01 AM–7:40 AM – Overnight business checks at locations including Brewed Awakening, Key Harbor Marina, and McDonald’s.
- 3:27 AM – Suspicious person call: white female in hoodie pulling on doors at Dewy; she was looking for cigarette butts and declined assistance.
- 9:13 AM – Second vehicle crash at Giant Eagle in as many days: Ford F-150 and Jeep Cherokee involved.
- 11:13 AM – OSP reported reckless driver on SR2; vehicle not located.
- 12:32 PM – Foot patrol at Brownhelm Cemetery.
- 12:37 PM – Barking dog complaint on High Bridge Rd; family issued a warning.
- 2:11 PM – Speeding traffic stop on Sunnyside Rd; verbal warning issued.
- 2:24 PM – Additional patrols and business checks through late afternoon.
- 2:28 PM – Harassment report: woman received threatening texts from ex-boyfriend after moving out; no contact order requested but no prior reports filed.
- 3:16 PM – Rear-end crash on SR60/Martin; tow truck dispatched.
- 3:53 PM – Traffic stop on Main St; citation issued for Driving Under Suspension (DUS).
