Vermilion, Ohio — A Cleveland man was arrested early Thursday morning following a high-speed pursuit that began on State Route 13 and ended near mile marker 159.4 on State Route 2 within the city limits of Vermilion.
According to law enforcement records, troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Sandusky Post (Post 22) attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling on SR 13 in Erie County. The driver failed to comply, leading troopers on a pursuit that continued eastbound onto SR 2. Vermilion Police Department was called to assist.

At approximately 1:46 a.m., troopers deployed spike strips, successfully disabling the vehicle near mile marker 159.4. The driver, identified as Maceio Deon Williams, 29, of Cleveland, was taken into custody without reported injury.
During a post-arrest search of the vehicle, troopers recovered approximately 8.2 grams of crack cocaine. The drugs were collected as evidence and are expected to factor into the charges as the case proceeds through the court system. The discovery further escalated the severity of the incident, adding a drug-related component to an already dangerous high-speed pursuit.
Williams was booked on a third-degree felony charge of Failure to Comply with an Order or Signal of a Police Officer, a violation of Ohio Revised Code 2921.331(B). The arresting officer was Trooper Flecha, according to court records.
He is currently being held on $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Huron Municipal Court on May 20, 2025, at 9:00 a.m.
No additional charges or injuries were reported in connection with the incident. While the drugs were taken in as evidence, no additional drug charges had been filed as of this report. Prosecutors may pursue further charges pending lab results or additional review.
