Three awards save owners more than $850
VERMILION — Main Street Vermilion has awarded three grants through its Historic Register Plaque Grant Program, saving participating property owners more than $850.
The organization launched the program in 2025 to help owners recognize and preserve historically significant homes and buildings. Approved grants cover 50% of the cost of an official Vermilion Historic Register plaque, with the property owner responsible for the remaining half.
The program is open to property owners in Vermilion’s historic district whose properties are listed on the Vermilion Historic Register. Applications are reviewed and approved by Main Street Vermilion’s Historic Register Committee.
The committee researches and records Vermilion structures that are at least 50 years old while encouraging their preservation through education and recognition. Informational plaques highlight each participating property’s history.
