The Vermilion Police Department responded to a range of calls this past week, handling everything from civil disputes to arrests for operating a vehicle under the influence. Below is a summary of notable incidents:

June 2, 2025

  • 200 block of Fairfax Rd, 10:13 AM: A red BMX-style bike was found abandoned in a yard and secured for safekeeping.
  • 900 block of Sunnyside Rd, 10:22 AM: Officers responded to a civil dispute over an unpaid bill.
  • 300 block of Roxboro Rd, 12:57 PM: A complaint was made regarding property damage after a truck drove over a sump line.
  • 1100 block of Highbridge Rd, 5:59 PM: A citation was issued following a complaint about excessive barking dogs.
  • Liberty Ave, 11:02 PM: A traffic crash involving a deer was reported.

June 3, 2025

  • 200 block of Erie Rd, 12:15 AM: A welfare check was requested for a subject possibly involved in a domestic incident. No charges were filed.
  • 200 block of Claremont Rd, 10:16 AM: A fraud complaint was filed related to a vehicle purchase.
  • 300 block of Edison Dr, 3:15 PM: Officers responded to a child-related disturbance; no charges were filed.

June 4, 2025

  • 600 block of Washington St, 1:20 AM: Civil complaint received over an eviction issue.
  • Mercy ER, 1:43 AM: Officers investigated a menacing complaint tied to the earlier eviction dispute. Both parties were advised to seek legal counsel.
  • Vermilion Rd, 4:37 PM: Non-injury vehicle crash reported.
  • 5000 block of Ohio St, 5:59 PM: Civil dispute regarding a property line.

June 5, 2025

  • 300 block of Erie Rd, 7:00 AM: Assisted EMS with transport for medical evaluation.
  • 3800 block of Edgewater Dr, 7:46 AM: Trespassing complaint investigated.
  • Sunnyside Rd, 11:46 AM & Liberty Ave, 12:05 PM: Officers responded to two separate motor vehicle accidents, both without injuries.

June 6, 2025

  • 900 block of Jefferson St, 6:24 PM: Domestic violence was reported, but the situation was determined to be non-physical. Parties were separated for the evening.
  • Liberty Ave, 8:44 PM & Delamere Rd, 11:48 PM: Two drivers were arrested for driving under suspension during traffic stops.

June 7, 2025

  • 4400 block of Liberty Ave, 1:50 AM: A fight between two intoxicated individuals in a parking lot resulted in one being transported to Mercy for evaluation. Charges are pending.
  • Liberty Ave, 11:46 PM: A driver was arrested for OVI after a traffic stop.

June 8, 2025

  • 500 block of South Shore Ct, 2:03 AM: A juvenile reported missing was later found in Lorain and transported to Mercy for evaluation.
  • 4200 block of Menlo Park, 12:26 PM: Officers responded to a neighbor dispute.
