Two Lorain Residents Plead Guilty in 2022 Vermilion Overdose Death

Two Lorain residents have pleaded guilty in connection with the May 2022 overdose death of a Vermilion man, court records from Lorain County Common Pleas Court show.

Tyler Wayne Fox, 25, and Abigail Suzanne Link, 25, both of West 20th Street in Lorain, were indicted on October 27, 2022, on three felony charges each: involuntary manslaughter, corrupting another with drugs, and trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound.

According to court filings, warrants were issued for their arrests that same day. Both were taken into custody by the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office on October 28. Bond was posted shortly thereafter—Fox was released on November 2, while Link was released on October 29.

Following multiple continuances and court proceedings throughout 2023 and 2024, the cases against both defendants were formally consolidated in January 2024. The state filed a motion to join the cases for trial, which the court granted, setting a joint jury trial originally for April 29, 2024. That trial was later rescheduled several times before being canceled entirely.

On May 23, 2025, both Fox and Link entered guilty pleas to an amended indictment. Each pleaded guilty to two charges: reckless homicide and trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound. In exchange for their pleas, the original charges—including involuntary manslaughter and corrupting another with drugs—were amended.

Both defendants appeared in court via video with their respective attorneys: Jennifer Berki represented Fox, and Aaron A. Schwartz represented Link. Judge Giovanna Bremke accepted the pleas and referred both cases to the Lorain County Probation Department for pre-sentence investigations. Bond was continued for each defendant pending sentencing.

Sentencing for both Fox and Link is scheduled for June 27, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., in Lorain County Common Pleas Court.

Reckless homicide is a third-degree felony in Ohio, carrying a maximum penalty of three years in prison. Trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound, typically a fifth-degree felony, carries up to one year.
