LORAIN COUNTY — The Lorain County Sheriff’s Office and the Ohio State Highway Patrol Elyria Post are increasing patrols this Labor Day weekend to target impaired and reckless driving.
The enforcement blitz begins Friday, August 29, at 6 p.m. and continues through Tuesday, September 2, at 6 a.m. Officers will patrol highways, state routes, and local roads across Lorain County, focusing on removing impaired drivers and enforcing seat belt, speed, and distracted driving laws.
“Labor Day should be about celebrating safely with family and friends, not tragedy on our roads,” said Sheriff Jack M. Hall. “If you drink, don’t drive — plan ahead.”
Lt. Ray Santiago, commander of the Ohio State Highway Patrol Elyria Post, added, “Driving impaired puts lives at risk, and our troopers will be out in full force to stop those who choose to make that dangerous decision.”
