Vermilion Fire Department Incidents

The Vermilion Fire Department responded to several incidents between August 30 and September 5, 2025. The following is a summary of calls handled by firefighters during this period:
September 2
• 10:58 a.m. — Medical assist, Erie Road. Crews assisted Lifecare with a male overdose. Two trucks responded with six personnel.
• 3:59 p.m. — Medical assist, SR 2 westbound. Assisted EMS with a male gunshot victim. One truck with seven personnel responded.
• 6:22 p.m. — Assist law enforcement, SR 2 westbound. Assisted law enforcement following the previous call. Two trucks with twelve personnel responded.
September 3
• 4:10 a.m. — Residential fire alarm, Portage Drive. Investigated a residential fire alarm caused by a malfunctioning alarm system. Two trucks with four personnel responded.
• 1:14 p.m. — Natural gas odor, Whispering Shores Drive. Responded to a reported gas line being struck. Three vehicles with nine personnel responded.
• 3:19 p.m. — Medical assist, Exchange Street. Assisted Lifecare with lifting a patient for transport. Two trucks with ten personnel responded.
September 5
• 3:49 p.m. — Power lines down, Rolling Meadows. Investigated a power line issue. Three trucks with nine personnel responded.
