The Vermilion Sailors varsity volleyball team traveled to Bellevue on Tuesday night, where the Lady Red handed them a tough 3-0 loss in Sandusky Bay Conference play.
Despite the sweep, the Sailors gained momentum as the match progressed, improving their score in each set. Bellevue took the victory with set scores of 25-11, 25-16, 25-19.
Sailors’ Offensive Highlights
- Faith Sergent and Payton Strickler led Vermilion with 4 kills each.
- Elizabeth Okasinski added 3 kills, while Emma Gebhardt had 2 and Cecily Hughes chipped in 1.
- Service aces came from Okasinski, Elyse Myntti, Sergent, Lauren Logsdon, and Strickler.
Defensive Standouts
- Elizabeth Okasinski anchored the defense with 12 digs.
- Delaney Russell recorded 11 digs, Haley Stepp added 10, and Strickler contributed 4.
- At the net, Gebhardt tallied 2 solo blocks.
Setting the Pace
- Lauren Logsdon led the team with 9 assists, and Elyse Myntti followed with 5 assists.
Looking Ahead
The Sailors will return to SBC play on Thursday when they host Margaretta High School.
