The Firelands Local School District showed progress in the 2024–2025 Ohio School Report Card, moving from an overall 3.5-star rating last year to 4 stars this year. The improvement comes even as the district continues to operate with tight resources.
Firelands earned high marks for its 98.7 percent four-year graduation rate, as well as for efforts to close achievement gaps across student groups. The district also received strong ratings in academic achievement and school quality.
At the same time, the report noted challenges in student progress and early literacy, areas where Firelands fell short of state growth benchmarks and where district leaders say improvement remains a priority.
The stronger report card arrives as Firelands continues to look to its community for support. Past levy requests have struggled to gain traction with voters, leaving the district to stretch its dollars further. This year’s improvement suggests that despite limited funding, Firelands is making meaningful gains for its students.
