From the desk of Vermilion Police Department Chief Chris Hartung, the following incidents were reported between October 14 and October 19, 2025.
October 14:
1549 – 800 block of Bryant Drive: Civil complaint over damage to a residence from a roofing contractor.
1822 – Liberty Ave: Motor vehicle accident involving a car vs. a moped. The driver of the moped was taken to Cleveland Metro where he later died from his injuries. The accident remains under investigation.
October 15:
1703 – 4200 block of Edgewater Drive: Telecommunications harassment complaint.
October 16:
0929 – 500 block of Claremont Road: Trespassing complaint.
1813 – 500 block of Claremont Road: Trespassing complaint involving the same suspect. The matter is under investigation.
1949 – 4500 block of Liberty Ave: Theft of a cell phone. The phone was later returned to the owner after the suspect inadvertently picked it up off a bar counter.
October 17:
0753 – 1200 block of Sanford Street: Juvenile found in possession of alcohol was referred to the Erie County Juvenile Court for further disposition.
1107 – Lorain County Jail: Subject served with an arrest warrant.
1135 – Lorain County Jail: Subject served with an arrest warrant.
1530 – Aldrich Road: Motor vehicle accident.
2322 – SR60: Car vs. deer accident.
October 18:
0406 – SR2: Motor vehicle accident.
1132 – 4500 block of Liberty Ave: Report of a theft from a vehicle.
1343 – Liberty Ave: Motor vehicle accident.
October 19:
1848 – Sunnyside Road: Motor vehicle accident.
