The Vermilion Local School District announced that busing for high school students will resume on November 17, 2025, marking the end of a months-long transportation gap caused by a statewide bus driver shortage.
Superintendent Wes Weaver shared the news in an email to families Monday afternoon, crediting Transportation Supervisor Amber Stolar for leading an intensive recruitment and training effort that will soon bring new full-time drivers on board.
“I am happy to announce that Vermilion Local School District will restart busing for high school students and students of all ages who live outside the one-mile radius,” Weaver wrote. “Thanks to the hard recruitment and training work of Transportation Supervisor Amber Stolar, we have trainees who are going to be ready to be full-time drivers in the next few days.”
To prepare for updated routes, the district’s MyStop bus tracking app will be temporarily disabled starting November 3. It will return once new routes are finalized, with updated information expected to be shared with parents during the week of November 10.
Weaver thanked parents for their patience and said the district has worked to restore busing in the face of a driver shortage that continues to affect many Ohio school systems.
“We’re committed to providing bus transportation, the safest way for your student to get to school, to as many of our students as possible,” Weaver said.
