VERMILION — Voters selected Sara Stepp and Jill Treece to serve on the Vermilion Local School District Board of Education in Tuesday’s general election.
According to unofficial results from the Erie and Lorain County Boards of Elections, Stepp led with a combined total of 2,492 votes, or about 42 percent. Treece finished second with 1,945 votes, or nearly 33 percent. Sarah Scarvelli received 1,493 votes, or 25 percent.
Stepp, a 10-year board member and co-owner of Rudy’s Bar and Grill, ran for re-election on a platform of fiscal responsibility and continued investment in safe, modern learning facilities. She has supported recent levy efforts to address aging infrastructure and retain qualified teachers and staff.
Treece, an educator and leadership instructor at The Ohio State University, campaigned on strengthening community engagement, improving transparency, and maintaining high academic standards. She emphasized open communication and collaboration in long-term planning for facility repairs, transportation, and staffing needs.
The newly elected members will begin their four-year terms in January.
