The holiday spirit is getting ready to land in Downtown Vermilion at East Exchange Park, as the Vermilion Chamber of Commerce prepares to welcome families for three festive Santa visits throughout the season.
Santa’s River Arrival – November 29
The season officially launches on Friday, November 29, when Santa Claus makes his annual river cruise into town. He will travel down the Vermilion River aboard The Scarlet with Captain Ray Mason, departing at 11:00 a.m. and docking at East Exchange Park at approximately 11:30 a.m.
After he arrives, Santa will head to the Santa House, where families can visit with him from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Children and pets are invited to stop in for holiday photos, small treats and cheerful surprises.
Additional Santa House Dates
For families who cannot make the opening day, Santa will return twice more in December.
• Friday, December 6 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
• Friday, December 13 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Both events will take place at the Santa House in East Exchange Park in Downtown Vermilion.
Free Backpacks, Swag Bags and Treats
This year’s festivities include extra giveaways thanks to sponsor support. Children will receive Santa themed backpacks that include small goodies, and pets will receive special swag bags and treats while supplies last.
J.D. Indoor Comfort is serving as the Fireplace Sponsor and Swag Bag Sponsor for the event. Santa Sponsors include Harbortown Flag and Marine, Kingston Healthcare Vermilion and Robinson Family Soaps and Gifts.

Sponsor Opportunities Still Open
Local businesses who would like to help support the event can become a Santa Sponsor for $100. Sponsors will be recognized on Chamber media, banners and printed promotional materials.
