Vermilion residents will soon have an opportunity to honor Mayor Jim Forthofer for his years of service. A public reception, “A Legacy of Service,” will be held Sunday, December 7, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Harbourtown Fine Arts Center, 736 Main Street.
The event invites community members to stop in at any time during the afternoon to thank Forthofer for his leadership and longstanding commitment to Vermilion. Light refreshments will be available.
Dr. Jim Chapple, President of the Harbourtown Fine Arts Center, said hosting the reception is a meaningful way to recognize Forthofer’s impact.
“Mayor Forthofer has been a champion for the arts, local businesses, and the people of Vermilion,” Chapple said. “His steady leadership and genuine care for our community have made a lasting impact. We are honored to host this celebration and to thank him for his many years of dedicated service.”
Former Mayor Eileen Bulan echoed that sentiment, saying his leadership and love for Vermilion have “left a lasting mark” on the city.
The reception is open to all residents who wish to offer their appreciation as Forthofer’s time in office comes to a close.
