This week, we recognize two outstanding Vermilion Sailors athletes for their incredible performances. From the desk of Vermilion Sailors Athletic Director Andy Stillman.

Aiden Kyser – Senior

Aiden Kyser is 19-0 three weeks into the varsity wrestling season, securing tournament championships within the 157 lb. weight class at Coventry our opening weekend and again at Clear Fork the second weekend of our season.

This past Friday and Saturday he was voted the tournament MVW by opposing coaches at our Defense Soap Duals. Aiden annihilated the competition, dominating a couple state ranked kids from D1 schools on his way to a perfect 9-0 record over the two days.

Aiden surpassed 100 wins in his varsity wrestling career last weekend and currently sits at 112!  He is off to a torrid pace and looks to sustain it a couple weekends from now at the JC Gorman in Mansfield on 1/2 and 1/3.

Alyssa Woodward – Senior

Senior Alyssa Woodward is 12-2 after three weekends of competition.  Alyssa has been in the finals at each of those tournaments securing one championship and two runner-up finishes. The first weekend of the season she captured the 100th win of her varsity wrestling career.

This past weekend she earned the 100th fall of her career, a staggering statistic few in the sport could ever dream of achieving!  She now has 108 wins in her career not even a fourth of the way into her last season of competition.  Alyssa is off to her usual start and will keep steadily climbing toward her goals of a state birth and beyond!

Congratulations to Aiden and Alyssa for their impressive performances and contributions to the Sailors’ success!
