Arbor Day is a day focused on planting and caring for trees while reminding people how important it is to protect the environment. Trees help provide clean air, shade and homes for wildlife, while also making our communities healthier and more beautiful for future generations.
Recently, members of the Vermilion FFA Organization celebrated Arbor Day by teaming up with two first-grade classes to plant trees and learn from Jerry Western and the Vermilion Tree Commission. The younger students got the chance to learn more about nature and why taking care of the environment matters. FFA members worked alongside the students by helping dig holes, plant the trees and explain how trees grow and help the earth.
The event was both educational and exciting for everyone involved. The first graders had a great time getting their hands dirty and were proud to be part of something that will benefit their school and community for years to come. It was a great example of how even small actions, like planting a tree, can make a lasting impact.
Through activities like this, FFA continues to promote leadership, community service and environmental responsibility while inspiring younger generations to care for the world around them.
