Kochenour event set for June 18
VERMILION — Kochenour Orthodontics will host a summer kickoff fundraiser June 18 to help support the Kiwanis Club Back to School Extravaganza.
The event, “Kick Off Summer With A Cause,” will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Kochenour Orthodontics, 1418 State Road in Vermilion.
The fundraiser will include raffle prizes, pop-up vendors, free Kona Ice snow cones and free coffee from Floral Fox Coffee Co. for the first 50 people.
Proceeds from the raffle will go toward buying school supplies for the Kiwanis Club Back to School Extravaganza, which helps provide supplies for children in need.
Kiwanis Club of Vermilion President Amie Martin said the fundraiser will help the club purchase back-to-school supplies for local children.
“When we work together as a community, we can do great things,” Martin said.
Tori Pritt, who organized the event for Kochenour Orthodontics, said the goal is to bring people together while supporting students before the next school year.
“It’s more of trying to give back to the community while kicking off summer,” Pritt said.
Pritt said Kochenour Orthodontics is hosting the event in its parking lot, with help from other local businesses and vendors.
The event will include raffle prizes donated by businesses and community members. Raffle tickets will be $1 each, $5 for six tickets or $10 for 15 tickets.
Donations of school supplies or backpacks will earn three free raffle tickets. People who share the event flyer on social media can receive two free raffle tickets.
Pritt said backpacks are the most-needed item. Other needed supplies include crayons, colored pencils, notebooks, notebook paper, pens and pencils.
Pop-up vendors and businesses expected at the event include the Do Ranch salon, Montgomery Sweets and Loaves and Small Town Linx Permanent Jewelry.
Pritt said people attending the fundraiser are not picking up school supplies at the event. Instead, they are invited to donate supplies, buy raffle tickets and take part in the summer kickoff activities while helping Kiwanis support children heading back to school.
Raffle winners are expected to be announced around 4:15 p.m. on Kochenour Orthodontics’ Facebook page live.
