Vermilion Man Dies After Being Pinned Beneath Vehicle at Local Business

VERMILION — A 45-year-old Vermilion man has died after being pinned beneath a vehicle at a local business Tuesday morning.

According to the Vermilion Fire Department, crews were dispatched at 10:46 a.m. on March 31 to L&M Towing and Repair, 7113 W. River Road, for a report of a man trapped under a vehicle.

When first responders arrived, employees at the business had already removed the man from beneath the vehicle and were providing first aid. Fire officials said the man was an employee at the business. The vehicle had reportedly been partially elevated on a lift at the time of the incident.

Fire personnel requested a medical helicopter, and the man was transported to MetroHealth Medical Center with a severe head injury. He later died from his injuries.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as David Williams, 45, of Vermilion. Officials said Williams was treated at MetroHealth and pronounced dead on March 31.

An obituary published by the funeral home states that Williams was preceded in death by his daughter, Paige Marie Williams, on March 6, 2026. Paige Williams, 17, was a Vermilion High School student whose death was previously reported by the Sandusky Register.

Eight members of the Vermilion Fire Department responded to the scene with three vehicles. The Lorain County Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation.

The cause of the incident, including how the vehicle came off the lift, has not yet been determined. It was not immediately clear whether workplace safety investigators, including OSHA, will review the incident.
